Since 1883, the Bohemian Cemetery has provided comfort, connection, and community. What started as a small sanctuary has become a peaceful place that welcomes everyone, regardless of their background or beliefs.
The cemetery board sought assistance revitalizing its visual identity and enhancing its online presence. I worked closely with the cemetery to create a complete rebrand and website redesign that better conveys the profound sense of care, compassion, and community support they provide to families during their times of need.
Stylescapes were used to explore tone, texture, and visual direction before diving into design. Each one pulled together type, imagery, and color to illustrate a different approach. This was the stylescape we aligned on for design direction.
The website redesign focused on making the cemetery’s services easier to understand and access. It was also an opportunity to bring the new brand to life online. You can view the completed website at www.bohemiancemetery.com.
The final logo features the Bohemian coat of arms, a historical emblem chosen to reflect the cemetery’s cultural roots and long-standing presence in the community. The logo’s crest-like shape also mirrors the circular section markers' design throughout the cemetery, creating a meaningful connection between the brand and the physical space.
To support long-term consistency, I developed a comprehensive brand guide. It includes logo rules, color values, typography, image use, and example layouts. This document is structured to help anyone working with the cemetery keep materials aligned with the brand, whether they are creating flyers, maintaining the website, or printing signage.
